Rating: ★★★★ (4/5)

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California, is a theme park that truly knows how to bring excitement all year. During our trip at the end of September this year, we had the pleasure of experiencing both Fright Fest and Oktoberfest which combined to create a thrilling and festive atmosphere.

Thrills and Attractions

For those who love roller coasters, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a dream come true. With rides like the gravity defying Superman, Ultimate Flight and the classic wooden coaster known as The Joker, there’s something for every junkie. Families can also enjoy animal attractions such as Dolphin Discovery and Butterfly Habitat, During Fright Fest, these thrilling rides were given a dose of excitement with theming.
Fright Fest
Fright Fest at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is an experience that will send shivers down your spine. The haunted houses, scare zones and roaming ghouls create an atmosphere of terror. The attention to detail in the decorations and makeup of the scare actors is truly impressive. It’s a choice for those who enjoy the thrill of being scared.
The haunted mazes like CarnEvil were incredibly well crafted providing a heartracing experience that’s perfect for Halloween lovers. For the little ones, there is Boo Fest! You can go around a corn maze, play in a foam pit and receive treats from adorable characters.

Oktoberfest at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom brings a twist to the autumn season. The park offers a taste of Bavaria with German cuisine, live music and of course, plenty of Oktoberfest-inspired drinks.

The festive decorations and lively entertainment make it a wonderful way to celebrate the season. The food options, including pretzels, sausages and schnitzel were absolutely delicious. The lively atmosphere was contagious.

The regular entertainment choices at the park are decent and suitable for families with shows and live performances. However, during events like Fright Fest and Oktoberfest the entertainment truly shines. The themed shows and parades added a layer of excitement to my visit. Still, I would appreciate seeing a range of entertainment options throughout the year.

Food and Dining

The dining choices at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom are diverse, with a variety ranging from theme park food to cuisines. During Oktoberfest, the German-inspired cuisine stood out as a highlight. The food quality was generally quite good. There were options for different dietary preferences. Just be prepared for prices that’re typical of theme parks although the value for the money spent is fair.

Crowds and Lines

As with any theme park dealing with crowds, waiting in lines can be a bit challenging during special events like Fright Fest and Oktoberfest. I suggest planning your visit strategically by arriving and considering the use of a Flash Pass to minimize wait times for rides. However, I must commend the park staff for their efforts in keeping lines moving,
